Well folks - any chance of a race report from somebody?
How did u go Lorraine on first tri?
Don has all the biscuit fasting paid off?
Ruairi - did my ironman belt inspire?
PJ - did the cone on your head help?
Ciara - has all the training paid off?
Peter - how does a sprint compare to an ironman?
So many questions - so few answers!!

Re: North Tipp Sprint
A well organised race with great weather - I have trisuit sunburn today.
Bike was a tale of two halfs - first 10km took me 22 mins, second 10km tool me 15 and I managed to spin out on the flat
Run was tough and was mostly uphill - frank you would have loved it.
Well done to Lorraine on her first tri and to Don on a top 5 AG finish in an NS race which had a quality field. To give some indication of the quality of the field 3 weeks ago in portlaois I was slower and finished in the top 40. Yesterday I was faster over a much tougher course and ended up outside the top 100. Looking good for Spain Don

Re: North Tipp Sprint
Well it was an early start on Saturday morning for my first trip to a triathlon as a competitor. When the alarm went off at 4.45am it crossed my mind “what on earth am I doing”. Thanks to Ciara for keeping me company on the way down, kept the nerves at bay for a while. For my first time as a competitor the North Tipp Sprint was a very good experience. Registration was very straight forward and the transition set up was easy enough, setting up the bike opposite the relay transition rack just so I'd know which area to run for. ( I had nightmares about running around transition and not finding my bike).
The Nerves really set in while watching PJ, Ruari, and Peter in their swims, a lot of pacing in and out of the building , it didn't feel like butterflies but elephants in my stomach. Into the pool and a quick warm up and a chat to the others in the lane put me at ease. The swim went well and I was very happy to see a 14 at the beginning of the clock on my way out the door. Delighted with my 14.57 swim. Transition went smooth and out on to the bike, where my heart sank when I turned out onto the road and the wind hit me squarely in the face. Cycled on, a good few people passed me but I was expecting that. After the turn around it was great, the wind on my back actually felt like someone was pushing me the whole way back. Back into transition and delighted with a 44 .55 time and out onto the run, the legs felt good, for about 1 km then I struggled. It was a tough run but I was determined to keep the legs going. I started to feel good again with about 1.5 km to go, so finishing with a spring in my step.
I had gave myself a target of 1 hr 45 so to finish in 1 hr 34 mins 32 sec was fantastic. It was a great day, good weather and great support from all the 795 crew. Thanks to ciara, PJ, Ruari, Peter and Don for all the words of encouragement and Yvonne, Lia, Cian, Barry, Caoimhe, Saoire and Aoibhinn for all the support. I really enjoyed myself and i'm looking forward to the next one!

Re: North Tipp Sprint
Great race on Saturday as usual, that's my second year and equally as well organised. Everyone on the 795'ers excelled themselves including Barry with the three kids, I was getting stressed looking at him. Give me a triathlon any day.... Was personally very happy, over 4 mins faster than last year, top 30 overall and top 5 in the age group, so a mini triumph today. But the day definitely goes to Lorraine, a 1:34 for her first triathlon is just fantastic and 5 mins faster than my first sprint, and a sub 15 minute swim thrown in there too. Wow is all I can say. Hats off to you Lorraine, just brilliant. Well done PJ, Ruari, Peter and Ciara as well and for all the support too. Great start to the season.
Re: North Tipp Sprint
Well done to all in Nenagh - agree with Don, Lorraine's performance in her first tri is very impressive and top's the day (although Barry's efforts are not to be overloooked .
Don finishing in top 30 is pretty impressive also considering Peter's comment on the quality of the field. Solid performances all round really.
