Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
Good luck to Felix, Oscar and Don in the Dublin City tri tomorrow.
Mind all those nasties in the Liffey.

Best of look lads and remember:
See you all if ye make it
See you all if ye make it
Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
Best of luck to all. Remember avoid the brown trout and the floating condoms on the swim
Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
Lads your painting a very poor picture of our fair capital. If I didn't know better I'd swear I was back living in Cork. We only let it look like that for the culchie day out on the 8th of December so yee don't make a habit of coming up to often. And the occassional all Ireland

Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
Those photos and words of inspiration from Barry were very good, still laughing here Well I don't know about Frank & PJ but I managed to avoid the floaters, condoms, trolleys and whatever else was suppose to be there and found the swim fine. In fact quite enjoyable despite the anxious moments before. Piranha put on a great show with a very good goody bag, serious amount of marshalls and all managed with military precision. That all resulted in my best peformance of the year in a seriously competitive race and 4th in my age group, which means automatic qualification to represent Ireland again next year . PJ & Frank had excellent performances too, PJ all round and Frank burned it on the bike. Yvonne provided the support, which I can tell you was very welcome as I was suffering on the second lap of the run. So all in all a good day out and Dublin won the football, so both PJ & Yvonne went home happy.
Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
I agree with Don great event very well marshalled
Enjoyed the bike even though it was technical as tri's go
Well done Don on 4th in age group
That's the 3rd or 4th time Frank has well beaten my bike split> hope the handicapper takes note

Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
I would concur with PJ and Don, the Liffey water conditions were fine and i am certainly proof of that as i was in the top twenty slowest swimmers and have had felt no ill effects since and i probably consumed a fair drop in 43 minutes
Marshals were firm but fair and it was some achievement to get 380 olympic atheletes out of transition at 07:35am for an 8am start - and all waves started on time or in somecases - a few minutes early, as PJ got caught napping!
The closed roads is an enjoyable experience, as was Athy tri, however, due to the number of laps, there was alot of negotiating to pass all the riders, especially at turn-a-round. Felt they could have made 6 shorter or 4 longer laps to avoid turning round a cone in the middle of a road, however that's a minor crib in the greater scheme of things. Run route was part grassy field, part woodland track, part main road and part tarmacadum path - not for the purist runners me thinks! We were discussing it afterwards and the general concensus was the tri could be improved by having all the run on the tarmacadam paths - there is no shortage of them in the Phoenix Park!
Well done Don on coming 4th in a very competitive age group in a strong field. PJ finished very strong again in the run and thanks to Yvonne and crew were official supporters again.

Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
well done 3 amigos, ye must be nearly finishing up the season at this stage?
Re: Dublin City Tri 2011
Definitely Dena, or as Chruchill says 'Oooohhh Yeeessss'. I was due to do the Pulse Triathlon, but after Sunday and thankfully being busy at the moment, I've hung up the triathlon boots for the season. Training at that rate from the first race in April to the last race on Sunday takes a lot out of you. I'm out to pasture now, or maybe the trails after the two David's reports and words of wisdom, you never know
