Great day had by all today, not a drop of forecast rain to dampen the spirits. The Tully bros doing what I believe was their longest spin to date, Dempsey drilling it all day then turning good Samaritan/mechanic repairing a puncture on a strangers bike covering himself in dirt in the process. I know I'm biased but savage stuff from Lorraine only back on her bike since feb after a very long knee op recovery, knocking out that 140km no mean feat. well done slaney cc once again great event. Thanks to club mates great craic and company for most of the day isn't that right dc

I was dying! Figured I wouldn't get any sympathy off you lot so went solo for an hour to have a little cry for myself. Apart from that, great day out! Really well done to all, especially the first time challengers.BarryB wrote:...great craic and company for most of the day isn't that right dc

Well done folks that's a great achievement.
Re: Mt Leinster Challenge
That was tough but enjoyable. We had a nice little bunch to cycle with to the bottom of Corrabut, then it was every man for himself, well with the exception of Barry who stuck with me for encouragement. Great to see joy, Helen, Caroline and kids at the top. I couldn't exactly walk up that last bit with joy shouting encouragement and cameras at the ready. The feast in kiltealy was great, those cocktail sausages went down a treat. Our peloton had shrunk for the cycle back to Bunclody again it was great to hear the shouts from Orla and Kate and kids who even had made posters. I started to suffer up kilbranish but Barry stuck with me again. Great to get to the top again but after all the climbing it was the last 20k that felt the hardest. I struggled home but I was delighted to have finished. A big thanks to the hubby who encuraged me all the way. It was good fun and to have a group out from the club was great. Role on TDF.
