Re: Lough Deg mtb Challenge 9th/10th April
Savage, well done to all who was there today and yesterday, poor Barry must been not so happy seeing all these bikes going around but thanks for the cheering ( just wear steel toecap boots next time) We see you in Cork. Had a few battles with Damian over the two days. should have kept my tips to myself because on the 3 stage he was very fast and i could not stay on his weel . great racing over the whole weekend. also the organisation was top class with food and water inbetween the stages.
defenitly do this type of event again.

Re: Lough Deg mtb Challenge 9th/10th April
deadly event.
weather and the 795 gang made it great. Two good stages yesterday, the second one in particular some savage tech climbing and descending. Fast long stage this morning followed by a technical 6km TT with a truly brutal climb.
I thought the format was fab, great atmosphere between stages and loads of opportunities to chat with fellow riders
First up well done to Rudolf (6th) and Damian (11th) in the 2 day event. I bagged 28th so am delighted too.
Hats off today to Lorraine in here first event in a 795 jersey (?) - to see the smile on that little face truly was a joy to behold And the old dog getting 3rd What about that And DavidT with a very creditable first appearance

Well I'm cut, bruised, battered and exhausted but that just adds to the fun. I'm delighted with myself, well chuffed. First race and first nice shiny medal. Myself and Jim will have to go shopping with the vouchers we got aswell. enjoyed the first race this morning, Myself and tully were having a right cat and mouse race for most of it but in the end he left me for dead. the second race was HARD. my legs are sore, i think thats for all the walking up the hills, but sure I made it round eventually.
It was a great day and great results from everyone. fair play to the lads who did the 2 days, savage.

Looking at those photos, you could have been anywhere in the world, sounds and looks like it was a great weekend. Well done all, particularly Lorraine and Jim on the medals.

Great day out! Fair play to DF, Damian and Rudulf doing the two days.
I just did the one day 26k + 6k TT.
The 26k was endless fire road - had a few pass me on the ascents, but passed most again on the descents and really enjoyed the bits of singletrack.
Was with Lorraine for a fair bit of it on and off - she'd go by on the way up and I'd go by on the way down - gravity is a great thing
The TT was savage. Provisionally Lorriane and I were to start alongside each other in the TT - 2 off in 30 second intervals, but that changed and I was off 30 seconds ahead of her - didn't stop Lorraine catching up and passing before the initial 2k climb was done!
Then into single track that's a long version of Black Dog and elements of Rock n'Roll. Chicken wire on the ground for traction to get you up!
Need to do a good bit of climbing work now..
