Ferns Sportive 22nd July

Post by DavidC »

Barry, my brother Jamie and I are going to give this a shot tomorrow. 100km including a climb to the 9 stones and over Sliabh Bhuidhe to finish. There's a 60km option too.
Details here http://www.slaneycyclingclub.com/?p=4122
Anyone else interested? It's €20 but it's a good cause.

Deadly craic today in Ferns, with a travelling group of 9 Racing795 members and honorary members for the day. Most of us did the 100km and finished well. Barry is already regaling everyone with tales of our club climbing prowess so we can look forward to his report!
Well done to Slaney CC, always great organisation in everything they do.

Great day out, as last year brilliantly organised again loads of marshalls, food, bbq after, all the black sausages you could eat. What DC speaks of is the 4 lads arriving in carnew in a bunch of 20ish only to see the 4 795ers move to the front and blow the group apart. then followed a dropped chain from jamie and we fall back to check everything is a ok. being passed by half a dozen, one duly informs us they would save us a burger at the finish  The horse whisperer was not impressed and proceeded to set up slieve bui at a savage pace with the 3 of us fighting desperately to try and keep up and everyone else looking like they are standing still, as the last person was fast leaving earshot ross enquired politely if they would be requiring sauce on theirs. We then decended the 7km to ferns at max speed in an attempt to catch ross but not to be. Now I know these are non competitive but from carnew to ferns I have never worked as hard on a bike. Brilliant day out

Nice one guys.
Frank and myself waved at "some girl" in racing 795 clothing in Carnew Sunday on the way home from the beast.
No idea who she was but she gave us a wave :D
