Junior Duathlon Athy Mar 5th

Hi All

Athy Triathlon club are holding a kids specific Duathlon in Athy on March 5th at 3pm. It looks like it might be a great opportunity for those eager and much younger 795 ers to see what the triathlon world has to offer!! They are catering for all ages and no one will be turned away on the day so anyone from 5 years to 15 years can get involved, they have a variety of distances:
age run bike run
4 -5 yrs 50m 100m 50m
6 - 7 yrs 200m 250m 200m
8-9 yrs 300m 1.2 km 300m
10-11 yrs 600 3km 600m
12-13 900 3.6km 600m
14-15 yrs 1.2km 4.8km 900m

The cost is 5 euro per child. Post here if you are interested in attending. You can also find details on their website and facebook page.
We had hoped to organise a practice run/training session for those interested before the event but thus far the weather has not been kind enough to allow that to happen. I am hopeful for next weekend and will post again with details should the weather play ball.

My kids had a fantastic day at the duathlon and are thrilled with there medals. It was very well ran and ran on time. Now I just need to get one of those medals for myself.

Great day out, over 100 kids I think turned up.

Safe enclosed environment and well run, considering first kids event. Hope to return in 2017, with 2 kids...

Saturdays event proved to be a great success for Athy tri club and for all those who attended. We had no less than 13 jnr 795 ers taking part. By all accounts they all enjoyed it. A very high standard of racing took place, lots of eager and determined young people showing us how fit and agile they were, some slick transitions and great bike handling skills displayed, not to mention the big happy faces on everyone as they recieved their superb medals. A great day out.
