Now I know I said never again but..........

Trying to decide on 2011's big race. This time last year I asked if anyone was interested in doing an IM in 2010 and got no takers. Same question for 2011, anyone interested in doing one? The current thinking is leaning towards IM France (DON'T TELL VAL YET). I fancy a few days in Nice in June despite the heat and the hills. If we got a few takers / relay team we could have an interesting few days. Whadda think?

Peter, did you sign up for an IM for 2011 yet? I'm trying to narrow down the list of which one i'm going to do, yeah yeah all you people that are going to remind me of my "no way never" after the half, but the pain is forgotten already :D

Anybody else any suggestions?

Haven't signed up for one yet, it's hard to pick and train for one with a new baby on the way. Plan was to do Conn Ultra and see how it went from there but injured at the minute so it's all up on the air. Have you any in mind?

Congratulations that will def make 2011 busy, busy.

I'm not sure all the main ones that i really liked to do have sold out already, but i think I'm kind of swaying towards Ironman-Extreme in Salou, then IM wales is niggling with the fact that the logistics would be so easy. I just want to get it sorted and sign up, before i have second thoughts and obviously start the training.

There are quite a few good ironman distance races in the uk. The Outlaw only started last year but got great reviews. Forestman is supposed to be great but it's an ultra tough course. If you want an IM branded race in the uk then I'd lean towards IM UK over IM Wales purely because I wouldn't like to be depending on good weather in September for a sea swim. The number of entrants seems to be higher for UK than Wales at the minute as well. Both have tough bike courses. The logistics for UK races are easier in that you can bring the car which was a big help for me this year as t1, t2 and the finish line were all in different areas. That said the big european races are supposed to be more child friendly if you are bringing the kids. www.tritalk.co.uk is a good site for UK IM races. That said a warm weather race would be nice. There's an IM race in Majorca in September that I like the look of. Let me know what way you are leaning.

Nice choice Dena. Looks like a nice race, not sure about that bike course though, better start doing hill repeats on Mt. Leinster :)

Jaysus Dena fair play to you, hope the training goes well, serious commitment

Shame that the Luton marathon was cancelled - sure maybe head down to do the half in Waterford next weekend instead?
