Phew, great day. I think Rudolf summed it up eloquently - thanks to all of you who helped. It's a long day in the woods but everyone's personal effort is what makes it all possible in the end.

Very glad I decided to race in the end, having decided not to about 5 times. Thanks to Aisling and the others at the tent for shaming me into it! It's great to race in front of a home crowd. I might have had grim expression on my face (that was pain) but I was loving all the cheering. The guerrilla photographers all over the place were a little disconcerting but the shouts of encouragement definitely made me faster.

Did ye see Ed's fancy new Subaru? We were all giving out this morning that some chancer had driven into the wood and parked in the middle of the way. Turned out it was Ed who has changed his faithful old banger for a boy racer machine! He's not a bit self-conscious about it either

well done today to the mountain bike crew - all the planning and work by ye over the last weeks and months paid off big time - track looked great and atmosphere around the place was very positive.
