Athletics Ireland

Post by Eimearbowden »

As you may or may not be aware the club is now affiliated with Athletics Ireland aswell as Triathlon and Cycling Ireland.
We get quite a bit of correspondence from Athletics Ireland and as I am not sure who is interested in events/coaching with them I am going to post anything of relevance here!

This might be of interest to some of you:

Leevale AC is hosting a javelin master class weekend hosted at the club’s High Performance Centre and CIT track.

Terry McHugh (Irish National Record Holder, 82.75m and current Swiss National Coach) will lead the weekend.

During his career, Terry finished 10th at the 1993 World Championships and 7th and the 1994 European Championships. He competed in four Summer Olympics: 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000.

Terry coaches the javelin at the highest level and this is a wonderful opportunity for emerging talent.

The proposed program for the weekend is as follows:

Friday 12th Oct 5pm – 9pm
Introduction season planning session planning S&C talk
Saturday 13th Oct 9am – 6pm
athlete technical assessment technical throwing sessions individual & group recap
Sunday 14th Oct 10am – 2pm
full throwing session & recap
This is a unique opportunity to spend time with an international coach, and coaches as well as athletes will benefit enormously.

Participants will receive a detailed itinerary closer to the date by email. For further details, please contact donalfmoynihan@gmail.com

Cost of this masterclass is €100.
