Some people have been asking me for this, The Poem as recited in the hut on the Christmas Spin
An Ode to Mountainbiking 2012
Twas in the cold month of January
We set sail for the West
Myself and Ross of Glaslacken
Looking forward to the test
The track it was called Tracton
We got mucked up to our tits
And all we left Cork with
Was a dose of the rantantering $hits
February made me shiver
A songbird once did say
And off for Glendalough we set
To see if it was our day
This time we had for company
From Carla a lad called Hayden
Riding a very fancy bike, with carbon it was laden
The Gride it was called that day
And it was very nice for some
Especially young Ross of Glaslacken
Standing on the Podium..
In March we were on home turf
With sunshine, no "BANNED WORD"
Buggle and Allen drove for the line
The Yank came out on top
The month of May, we went west again
Conway back on board
No sign of the dodgy back this time
As the old order was restored
May also was a month of pain
Our Dutchman met with disaster
On the descent from Lug off he came
his heelbone it did shatter
The summer months went quietly by
Marathons round the corner
Tully and co training hard
Twas going to be a stormer
But before that
There was a big challenge to be had
For Barry and the Wicklow Way
It didn;t pan out
Just quite as he planned
But he’ll be back another day
Down then to Limerick for the big champs
The boys chomping at the bit
Who was going to finish last feeling like a tit
It wasn;t to be
Young McElwee
For out on top he did come
Showing true grit
He was no tit
The Victor in the Sun
So a year of ups
And a year of downs
But a great year it has been
Stay happy and healthy and fit my friends
And here’s to 2013.
The Poem
Re: The Poem
Ah the memories
horrific but memories none the less
horrific but memories none the less
Re: The Poem
Bring on 2013. Hopefully it will be my lucky number. Lug is on the list.
Re: The Poem
I'm touched. Any poets on the triathlon side?
