Now while all you lucky boys and girls are racing around the hills of Wicklow in the autumn sunshine i'm here planning my recovery with my friend mr turbo.

Everyone knows that the turbo trainer is boring as hell. I'm i'm no fan, bit it has got its place (as myself and Rudolf can testify :( ) Its a handy yoke in the depths of the winter when you cant get out, expecially for the roadies

Anywasy to make it interesting, heres what I do:

Take plans from this website http://www.turbotraining.co.uk/ - its free, just sign up and browse the plans. You'll need a laptop to follow the countdown clock

Get some trance music from here http://www.di.fm/. My current favourite is 'Hands Up' ;) gets the blood flowing nicely

Find some good classic youtube TdeF footage, like this to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qgXQ3zPSN4

Away you go!

Ah the dreaded Turbo Trainer, just back from watching all the gang cycling around Wicklow and come home to look at my bike in its permenant position in the corner of the sitting room on the Turbo, it's starting to look very sad sitting there.

I'll have to give those ideas a go and see if I can get her (and me) back on the open road any time soon.

We'll have to start having 'injured anonymous' meetings

If you have a hrm make sure to enter your details under ,profile, on the turbotraining website- all the hrm based workouts are then automatically adjusted to your heart rate zones based on your input max hr
