Bike Maintenance / Repair Workshop
Posted: Mon May 03, 2010 9:12 pm
The racing season is upon us now and its important to be able to do a quick pre-race check on your bike as well as ongoing basic essential maintenance. As well as that, it's important to be able to do the basics like fix a puncture in an emergency. This applies equally to triathlon, mtb or even if you are just doing casual road spins.
Like most things, it's easy when you know how, or when you have been shown.
Rudolf has kindly offered to give an evening workshop where the following will be addressed:
Pre-Ride Check
Check tyre pressure
Check condition of tyres
Check that quick releases are tight
Check brake blocks position and that wheel is running true
Check derailleurs/cable tension
Bike Maintenance
Bike wash
Clean/lube chain
Check chainwear, cassette and front ring wear
Adjust cable tension - gears and brakes
Emergency Repair
Fix puncture
Fix chain (incl. 'single speed' option)
Jim Furlong has kindly offered his premises on Ryland Rd, Bunclody for the occasion and we will kick off at 7.30pm on Tuesday 11th May.
If possible bring your own bike.
Please indicate here whether you will be coming along.
