Bree Downhill Race 17th January

Post by DavidF »

The guys in Bree Downhill are hosting the first round of the All - Ireland Winter Downhill League on Sunday afternoon at Bree Hill.

For those of you who are not familiar with it - downhill mtb racing is a gravity fuelled action sport, not for the faint hearted, requiring skill and fearlessness in equal measures, where the competitiors race over a short (2-3 mins) steep technical course in time trial fashion.

It is also very spectator friendly as the courses are quite short and there is plenty of opportunity to see the top riders getting some 'air'.

So I would encourage anyone who is looking for a bit of fun on Sunday afternoon to go along - it is free after all. The racing starts at 12 with the under age competitiors, with the Seniors at around 2-3pm. So plenty of time to get there after our TT on Sunday morning.

Here are the directions:

The rock garden in Bree is a good place to practice your full body dabs. Just make sure your fork is locked out.
