Tri795 Triathlon May 14th - call for marshals

Post by frankb »

Hello to all Racing795 Members - both past and present,

It's that time of year again when the Tri795 Committee request that you all put your shoulder to the wheel to help us run the club event.

It has sold out again and we will have 525 participants and 10 para - athletes competing this year.

We will require a large number of marshals again this year (circa 125-130) - so can you commit to Sunday May 14th?

Check your diary and expect a call in the next 5 days from one of the Tri795 Committee.

Here's hoping our club members will step up again this year.

Many thanks

Thanks to all. There has been a great response from members both present and past to step up for this event. As always there are members who have genuine commitments on the weekend of the race and that is perfectly understandable.

The last of the members will be contacted tomorrow eve so if you haven't heard from us - your name slipped the net then post here with your availability.

Thanks to all - it has been really encouraging to see so.many committing to Tri795. You will be getting an email with marshal details next week but if you dont- check in here with this post for details.

Thanks

Folks

In case your wondering.... we do want your help on Sunday and some of you on Saturday. We are still hunting for 20 more marshals! We will be emailing you all tomorrow night or at the latest Wednesday with the details, so please check your emails. If for some reason you don't get an email but are available to help - please contact me asap.

For those who need to plan with kids etc. - sign on for all marshals is from 10.30 to 11.15am next Sunday morning in The Millenium Park Graigcullen - with marshal briefing at 11.30.

Thanks again to all for your help and time

Folks - marshal locations finalised - you should have received an email. If not then, here is all the info you need....maybe too much :D

Hello All

Firstly, thank you for agreeing to marshal at our Racing 795 Sprint Triathlon. Without you, it would not be possible to hold such an event.

Please sign on at Marshal Registration in the Park between 10.30 - 11.15am (Dome shaped tent nearest transition area).

At sign on, you will receive a goodie bag with event T-Shirt and pink Racing 795 bib, some food and a drink along with a map of the route with marshal locations and emergency contact numbers (should there be any issues on the course). No sign on - no goodie bag! Please return the pink bib to a box at this dome tent when you are finishing marshalling.

PLEASE bring a FULLY charged mobile phone with you along with a suncap, suncream and rainwear.

A Marshal Race briefing will take place in the park at 11.30am so please congregate at the large marquee in the park.
If you wish to know where you are stationed, please review the spreadsheet attached - find your name and location marshal reference no -

eg

P1 Jarlath Duffy

You can locate where the Marshal Location is on the map eg P1 - click on the mapviewer below to see all marshal locations:

Tri795 Mapviewer - http://wexford.maps.arcgis.com/apps/web ... 194e21c3bd

Also we would ask that our marshals know the details of our race, as once you put on the pink high-viz bib on Sunday you will be asked questions by athletes, so it would be great if you had the info. It's all here in the race briefing - however please note that REGISTRATION FOR ATHLETES TAKES PLACE IN THE SEVEN OAKS HOTEL - NOT the boatclub. Any athlete you meet heading that direction - will you please relay this important piece of information. The Seven Oaks is on the Athy side of the Garda Station in Carlow.

Below are the emergency numbers that you will need to have saved on your mobile.

Swim Head Marshal - Mike Ryan 087 249 4462
Cycle Head Marshal - Don Morrissey 087 284 8948
Run Head Marshal - David Kendellan 087 207 3627
If you can't contact your head swim/bike/run marshal, then please contact
Frank Burke (Marshal Coordinator) - 087 7446475 or Paul Hutton (Race Director) - 087 227 6910

So if you are located at C4 and encounter an emergency - ring Don; R4 - Ring David; S4 - Ring Mike - if you cant get your allocated head marshal, ring Frank or Paul and we will call the Order of Malta.

S marshals are related to swim, C marshals are helping on cycle route and R marshals are stationed along the run route.

Finally the following is a list of those who are helping on Saturday May 13th in the Park - can you all arrive for 1pm please. The saturday crew - please bring tools gloves and scoops/shovel for dog dung collection - all the fun jobs!! :)

Mick Foley
Brian O Shaughnessy
Edward Burgess
Eimear Bowden
Ross Moorehead
Padraic Kavanagh
Paul McDonald
Don Morrissey
Paul Hutton
Frank B
Mike Ryan
David Kendellan
Peter Coulahan
Thanks again and finally - races are remembered by athletes for friendly, enthusiastic marshals that cheer people on - so smile and cheer when you can, but most importantly, stay safe while on the course.

A huge thank you to all the members present and past who turned up and did a great job setting up/marshaling yesterday and today. It couldn't happen without your presence.
