Not sure it would handle the Downhill track too well but you might get away with Black dog and Rock n Roll with a slightly wider set of handle bars

That's a nice bike Tom and you should be able to try one out in person if the lads selling them from Ireland have one in stock. Personally I'd be careful about buying a tri bike without making sure about the size and that the frame suits me. If you buy this one from Ireland you can also use the BTW scheme. There are a lot of tri bikes available in this price bracket - giant, felt, cube, etc. I have a giant trinity which is a similar price so you can try that out if you want for comparison. My advice is to have a look at as many as you can before buying - should be dome good deals on 2010 bikes now.

well i ain't no expert, but here's my opinion...
planet x bikes are well regarded and you see lots of them at triathlons in Ireland, mostly under fast lads/ladies. Brian O Shock and Frank both have Planet X road bikes.
Spec on that bike is good. Only 'weak' point is the wheelset which are Planet X's budget wheels. Still ok though and you can always upgrade later.
Peter is right about fit. Whilst there is lots to adjust ie saddle position, stem length etc..etc.. if you get the frame size wrong you will be p***ing against the wind from the start. And don't forget that TT bike sizing is different to road bike sizing - you may be on a 58cm road bike but need a 52cm TT bike...
So you should really try before you buy. Those Planet X guys in Mullingar or wherever are definitely worth a try - you should have their details on an email I forwarded a week or so ago. I also see that Revolve in Gorey have a 2010 Giant Trinity like Peters on display since they opened - he might do you a deal
Most important thing is fit - at the price point you are looking at the spec will always be basically good, so it's about whichever feels best.
There are a good few of us with different TT specific bikes - me, peter, Jim, Barry, PJ, you should try them. Mine is a nice yellow number i'm sure you've seen it.....

Cheers David I was in touch with those lads. Might try and get up to them when weather permits their in Athlone. If anyone has their tt bike at the next time trial I'll have a go see what there like.

Ah David, what about the all singing all dancing Specialized SWorks Transition with the Shimano Wheel Set, feeling left out here
I've a friend that bought a Planet X Bike last year and swears by it. He travelled to the the UK to fit the bike, as the guys said on the post 'Fitting is critical'. In fact I had to change the stem and handle bars when i bought mine second hand to get it to fit perfect although the guys in Cycleways were very helpful. I have to say, a carbon framed bike for that price is excellent value for money. I'll bring the bike along to the next TT and you can ride it, its a 58cm frame so it's a big frame, you are welcome to take it out anytime.
