Club Championship 2012
Posted: Sat Jan 28, 2012 5:19 pm
ok folks, seeing as we have members in action this weekend, no better time to launch the 2012 Club Champs. So the race to 2012 glory starts here, rules are basically the same as last year.
Club Championship Rules 2012
The ethos of the Club Championship is 'participation and improvement'
To qualify
Must be a full member of Racing795 by 28th February 2012. This means you have to have paid your Club fee and supplied the Secretary with your 2012 TI/CI membership details by this date (2011 details will not suffice).
Must compete in at least one National Series Triathlon event or National Points Series mtb event
Competition Start/Finish
Start will be from 29th January 2012.
Finish will be the 31st October 2012.
Scoring
Best 7 scores to count i.e. you can do as many events as you want but only your best 7 will count.
As last year, you will score points in two ways – participation points and competition points.
For participation points the following will apply:
National Series Tri and National Points Series mtb 15 points + competition points
Any other event on the TI / Irish xcmtb calendars 10 points + competition points
Any other event (ie running events, adventure races etc..) 5 points no competition points
Note: this year there will be no extra points for competing in events on the Club weekend away
Relay events will carry no points. If you DNF in an event you will also receive 0 points
Also, competing in an international representative capacity 15 points + competition points
For competition points the following will apply:
Only like events will be scored with like events ie duathlon-duathlon, olympic distance with olympic distance etc.. For mtb all events will be scored together. A non standard event eg Eireman X or Ironman will then by default only carry participation points if you only compete in one event.
Competition scoring will be by the 'base' system as used last year:
The 'base' is how far you are behind the overall event winner (not the Age Group winner) in percentage terms. For tri/duathlon this is straightforward. Its a little more complicated for mtb and is to be calculated as the % difference between the overall winners average lap time and the competitors average lap time.
A new 'base' is established at each event and used to calculate the score at the next event. Note that a 'base' event is needed for each discipline you wish to collect points in, so if you are competing for eg in tri, mtb, duathlon events you have to have a seperate base for each one. If you only do one event in a discipline then you still get the minimum participation points.
Points allocated as follows:
% away from base (+) Points % away from base (-) points
1 2 -1 -2
2 4 -2 -4
3 6 -3 -6
4 8 -4 -8
5 10 -5 -10
6 12 -6 -12
7 14 -7 -14
8 16 -8 -16
9 18 -9 -18
10 or greater 20 -10 or greater -20
Submission of Results
It is up to each individual to supply their results to the Club Championship. This year we will have an online form to fill in. All you have to do is enter the event details and your time and the winners time as per the rules above. The onus is on you to submit your results, if you do not submit your results then they may not count.
As there is a considerable amount of work in compiling the points scores, we would appreciate if you would input your results on the form in the week after completing your events. This would also allow us to give updates during the season. Please do not leave it until the end of the season to lodge all your results!!
The link to the form will be posted here in due course.
Where the format of an event is changed on the day (eg where a swim in a triathlon is cancelled) then the participation points e.g. 10 for non NS/NPS and 15 for NS/NPS and no competition points will be awarded to competitiors.
Finally, in the event of a dispute, the decision of the Club Committee will be final.
Good Luck!
