Anyone heading out tomorrow? On for a nice long spin upto 1pm. Does the challenge route need testing by a nonpro 'cos I'm your man, Mr Scuttleman!

We kept the 795 flag flying. Not a David in sight and just the one Brian - the lesser of the three! All arriving by motorised vehicles. 2 in an Eircom van driven by an elderly chap (not the guy from the Congo with the fluctuating weight and occasional facial hair). No locals. Trails beautifully dry. Guided by the slimline Rudolph. Gary showed us how to go down. His bike doesn't work uphill though. He explained why to us at the end but we still don't understand! Easyrider my arse, more like William's Folly. Even Rudolph on his 29 in wheels was scuttling, or so he tells me. I was busy coming down on my arse, couldn't even scuttle! Needs alot of work - a bit of tarmac and gravel would go along way. Gary asked me why my pseudonym was Mr Scuttleman. He followed me down Black Dog and understood how apt it is.
Met the family in the Millrace for lunch. Met 2 yanks on a titanium tandem. He owns bike mart in Dallas - huge. Didn't bother asking him about the other Texan cyclist. I think that his wife had more to push up hill than Gary! Off to pump track with the kids. Perfect day in Carlow. Kathryn Thomas is right, it's a great county!
