Well folks with the Tri season up and running for some and starting soon for others it's time for them dreaded bricks.....

Eamonn recommend the following for sprint distance triathletics:

1km run
6km bike And repeat 3 times

Just double for Olympic distance 2 km run 12 km bike etc

We will hold the first on Sunday 29 th April at 9AM
Yvonne has kindly volunteered her time to mind bikes etc so we will run it from Clonegal.

You can go as hard or easy as you wish. It's not a race.

All welcome

Count me in. By the way it's 1k run, 6 k bike and a 1k run repeated 3 times, so you'll be doing 2k run between each cycle. It's that 1k run off the bike that really get you.... Double for the Olympic guys

Thanks Don I didn't know about the last run ahh :(
Also do you rest briefly between each rep ? (hardly with Eamonn!)
You do two 1km runs back to back than I presume .
Thanks

I'm on for this - forces me to practice the transition stuff

Lads 6k run + 36k bike - I'm taking a rest between each set

Oh a rest is required in between alright, usually 5-10 mins walk or very light jog. You can of course do the back to backs  . I'll leave them to the pro's.

Frank you have your numbers wrong, 1k run, 6k bike & 1k run, repeat 3 times, so 6k run in total and 18k bike in total.

Eamonn does two types of brick depending on time of year, closeness to race, distance and training load. The one above is usually within race season and geared for Sprint Distance. I did a difficult one last Saturday afternoon, 3k run, 16k bike and 2k run repeated twice. However every second km is at race pace and every other is easy recovery. This one is usually geared towards the Olympic Distance. Hope this helps

That was well worth the effort.
Tough session but we will see the benefits of it hopefully.
It was great having a group together like that to push eachother on.

I had to hit 65kph to pass Frank coming back on the bike the last time :o
A good varity between the two routes also if i do say so myself :)

Thanks to Yvonne and kids for looking bike/gear etc ;)
