Road spin this Sunday the 17th

Post by BarryB »

Have had this one in mind for a while now and with the motocross enduro going on in the forestry this Sunday is perfect
the three ascents to the nine stones:
Start Bunclody
Myshal
(1)Up corabut
Down to tomduff
Kiltealy
Bunclody
(2)Up kilbranish
Down corabut
Over to borris
(3)Up from tomduff
Down into Bunclody
Simples roughly 100km
Someone good with maps might put up the route
Meeting at the co-op at 8:30

Unsure if I will be around on Sunday just yet but what is the planned pace or time frame on this?

Bailing out part of the way around is always a option but it will be easier in the long run to stick it out rather than endure the lifetime of ridicule which will be passed down through the generations.
I think 4:30 to 5 hours

Jaysus I'll sleep tonight. Bad luck Niall on the mechanical denying you the three steps to heaven glory but big up for staying on the bike after hitting a pot hole big and deep enough In nature to busts both tyres ! and no doubt not escaping without a buckle. Those are bike skills !!

We will have to take this one on again before the end of the summer maybe when it doesn't clash with a Tri

Only seeing this thread now, thank god I had a Tri yesterday :D
Well done lads that's some savage hills.

Would be interested in doing this but probably not until Mid September when in full training for Lanza.

mighty spin

a few things I learned

don't wear poncy tri shoes on a long spin, they'll murder your feet
mudguards on a road bike aren't such a bad idea, even in the middle of 'summer'
keep eating and drinking and you'll be grand
always bring PJ to point out the potholes

Aaaaaaaah, I was like a bear for the rest of the day...front wheel broke, hair line split in it, rear wheel buckled....I think what happened was that when Ross shouted "HOLE" I thought he was talking about the pain in his ass from the saddle, and didn't see the f***in crater till I was in it.......anyway it could have been worse. Im not around for the next few Saturdays, but intend to complete that circuit before summers end....(at my own pace off course) ;)
