XC mtb skills spin 13/02/11

Post by Rudolf »

Hello All,

For this half day you can come along and learn some new or improve exising mtb skills. The day will start with general set up of your mountain bike (tyre pressure, fork set up and brakes). then a short spin to warm up to the top of paradise. from here there will be some time to learn balancing and braking skills. Time to hit the single track. we will follow the single track and will stop at different places to look at, and ride roll offs and switch backs (uphill). after this it is time to pedal for a bit and apply some of the skills on the single track ahead. all the single track used will be the same as the race course for the 20th of march. We will try to cycle a reasonable distance so make sure your bike is in good working order.
other things to bring:
- helmet
-enough food and water for 3/4 hours.
-spare tube
-jellie babies
-cycle clothing for dry and wet weather

start 10.00
Lower Car park

hope to see you there!

I would recommend this. Rudolf is pretty experienced and everyone is guaranteed to either learn something new or re-learn something they have forgotten. Don't forget, MTB skills will make you a better road rider too. If any members are interested but don't have a mountain bike put your name down anyway and we'll try and fix you up with one for the day.

I hate to spoil the party but the Mysport 10k is on that day in Enniscorthy. I think a good number of people will be running there but hey why not do both!!

I'm definitely going to do Mountain Biking next Autumn and possibly next year, would love another one of these training skills days to learn from the Maestro around then but unfortunately I can't make this one either.

I'll be there!
there will be some time to learn balancing and braking skills
I need to stop using the brakes! :)
Realised something significant last night when I came off a few times on a section I never used to come off on (Critical Mass) - I'm trying to slow down too much, losing balance in the process and hitting the dirt :)
As Brian has suggested, a bit of grease on the brake disk... ;)
