After all the fun
we had last year doing the south leinster way I think its only right we take on something simular this year.
Wicklow way is approx 140km with 3000m of climbing. I'm proposing a 2 day trip. Starting in Marley park probably bus up on Friday evening staying in a B&B/etc for an early Saturday morning start. Halfway point for Saturday night is most likely Glenmalure or Glendalough. Sunday then finishing in clonegal. I'm sure the map men can post up trail profiles etc. A mountain Bike is essential, mountain bike skills are not as important as a decent fitness level. Last year PJ and Frank (aka the soft chaps) did the south leinster by road so maybe some of ye might be interested in something simular this year. I'm thinking of doing the trip Saturday/Sunday the 13th/14th of August.
so whos in??

It will be no problem to you Brian.
With the clash with the last round of the nps and some soft chaps little triathlon I think Jim has some little yokee doodle on that weekend too!! I reckon a better date is the 3rd and 4th of September ??

ok boys and girls
first Wiclow Way training spin on this Sunday, 31st July. As follows:
Departing Swimming Pool, Carrickduff @
8am sharp ie don't text me at 7.55 saying you're on the way, we won't be waiting...
Route with estimated times
Ballypierce 8.10am
Croghaun
Corrabut car park 9.00am
9 Stones 9.10am
Slievbawn
Tomduff Cross
Borris (by Road) 9.35am
Barrow tow-path to Clashganny
Clashganny-Ballymurphy by road (food stop) 10.20am
Ballymurphy - Scullogue Gap by road
Heinous Climb of 2 Gates
Head of Aughnabrisky
Sheep Country
Gravel Rd
Ballycrystal
Mullaun
HWH
Home your own way
Pace will be nice and steady and most importantly sociable. There is nothing too technical, so I would encourage anyone and everyone to come along, if not for all then some part. The Barrow tow-path is especially pleasant, and dead-flat.
Even the roadies could join in for a bit as a good bit is on the road. I will put a map of the route in the members area later.
This is about 60km and will likely take 4 - 4.5 hrs. Come prepared with enough food and drink and spares. Anyone seriously considering the Wicklow Way should really come on these spins.
See you there
