'Back in the Day' mtb spin sunday 16th Oct

Post by DavidF »

Now I know Rudolf is organising an away trip to Kindlestown, but unfortunately I can't make that

So I'm going to do a 'Back in the Day' spin on Sunday morning.

Back in the day, me Jim and DC used to regulary do this spin:

Lower Car Park
Windmills
Croghaun
Pete
Across the Hill
Mini DH (rideable again, might stop for 10 mins and fix a few bits)
Windmills
Black Dog
RocknRoll
Paradise
Critical Mass
Dabbage Patch

So that's the plan except I'll be throwing in a lap on Johns Hill on the way up just to get warmed up.

Leaving LCP at 9:00am sharp, yes folks that means sharp. Doesn't mean arriving at 9 and having 10 minutes chat....I need to be home by 12 ;)

All welcome, we will have singletrack avoidance measures for beginners.

Expect 2-2.5 hrs depending on numbers/abilities

I'm in for this one, said to Barry during the week I'll hit the bumps this Sunday. Might need those 10 mins for guidance and pep-talk though David. So where's the lower car park :?

'Back in the Day' mtb spin. Do you remember the scene in the Matrix (first of the trilogy) when Neo was going to take on the jump across the two buildings and all the matrix team sat in anticipation to see whether Neo really was 'The One'... and then he failed miserably and landed flat on his face.... That was me yesterday. I never thought I was going to be 'the one' but I didn't think certain parts would be as difficult. It started with me not even able to clip in to get started  , however I quickly got into it and loved the climbs. Then came the first piece of single track, which I endeavored initially but between trying to get used to the 'fab' bike, the terrain and those bloody clips (all for the first time), well I felt like Neo and the Matrix team when it didn't go exactly to plan. At one point while treking through a forest on a single track, I found myself face to face with a pile of pine needles. In fact, I was so slow in parts, that Barry was able to do some trailbuilding, while I was having earthly conversations.... However despite this, the scrapes and the odd fall (which only hurt my pride), I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. As Barry said, you sort of need a warped sence of humour to enjoy mountain biking. Unlike Neo, I don't think I'll become 'The One' but certainly will be back to try again. Thanks for the company too guys, hope I didn't hold you up too much... David, I now no what the word 'savages' really means....

A spin report! Deadly

Glad you enjoyed it don, keep at it now, just buy a set of grippy flat pedals. We'be all been there, the lads can tell you the comical tale of the day I fell off going up hill , swore I'd go home and f*** those stupid pedals in the bin, which I did......

Speaking of savages, brought frank the tank to the mountain yesterday and spent the afternoon watching his ass disappear uphill into the distance.....
