After a week or two of dry weather at this time of year, longing glances at the summit of Mt Leinster become more frequent. Met.ie is consulted. Old photos are looked at. Then sometimes, just sometimes, conditions remain dry, the moon waxes, stars align, and someone whispers "Super Sunday might be on."

Then it all falls into place and what we have is history, the first Super Sunday since early 2011, and the biggest and best ever!

Super Sunday is a spin that takes in the climb to the summit of Mount Leinster and the epic descent from there to Ballycrystal. It is mountain biking on as big a scale as you can get in this country. It's a rite of passage for the mountain bikers of Racing795. It's a rare event because the spongy, peaty surface of Mt Leinster is rarely dry enough to ride bikes from the summit to Ballycrystal, so you have to seize the opportunity when it arises.

I'm knackered after it but the buzz will get me through to at least Wednesday! Well done to all the first timers, you are now "made guys".

Great day out, many thanks for your patience and encouragement lads, i would have been back down the summit via the road and missed the best bit. Biofreeze sandwiches required tonight  The pics are great DC & DF.

My best Mt biking experience ever. In fact one of my best experiences. Still buzzing but really wrecked. Suffered on the way up to the masts. Slieve Ban and descent down Mt Leinster my highlights. Maximum respect to the guys who put in 2 hrs extra. Eamonn effortlessly passed me on the road back into Bunclody. I thought I was doing okay at that stage. What a man. I'm at it a year with 795. Don't know how Alan managed on his first spin on a hard tail. Glad I'm no longer a Super Sunday virgin. Hope to get many more in. Thanks to all.

Deadlyness is the word for the day, we may even get it into the Collins..
Firstly Brian L joined myself Jim and rudolf, being introduced to his first bit of kilbranish single track leaving us at nine enthused and longing for more mtb. Our little Pelton then growing to 10 for the big one the holy grail of mtb spins. Solid efforts from Alan informing me he hadn't sat on a mobile since Xmas plus Jim gritting his teeth and bearing it yo haul himself down of the mountain with a pulled glute or as our doc informed don't be ridiculous that's a hamstring Jim.
here are pics of our virgins in their moments of glory well done lads

Epic spin! Everywhere so dry.
The loop over and around Slieve Bán also memorable.
Wrecked again today - Mondays are becoming hard work!
