Super Sunday mtb 9th June

Post by DavidF »

Right with the weather the way it is there's only one thing for it...Super Sunday to beat all Super Sundays...this is the one you will be telling the grandkids about..

Departing Swimming Pool at 8am sharp

Route as follows:

Mullaun
Foleys Folly
Road
Babies Heads
Ruined Village
Scullogue Gap
Heinous Climb
ASCENT TO MT LEINSTER
Big Descent to Turfcutters
Down to gate
Back to Bunclody

The ascent to Mt Leinster hasn't been tried by any of us before, and from the end of the Heinous Climb will likely take about an hour, and at least half of that will be HARD, STEEP HIKE YOUR BIKE, especially the last 1km which is >20%. Make sure to come prepared, know how to hike your bike and if you're not comfortable hiking in your regular cycling shoes then bring something else

I expect this spin will take 4 to 5 hrs, so as usual, have lots of drink and food. We'll have a drink/food/coke stop at the top of the Heinous Climb but as this is a long spin it'll be the only scheduled stop

This will be a hard spin with lots of technical riding

be there or be square

now this sounds more like the super Sunday I had in mind.. to the mast via the actual mountain, not some tarmac cop out
DF, Is there anyway the new sections in Black Banks can be incorporated into this spin? they require tyres as much as possible before race day.

Brian, the MX lads are having their Mt Leinster Enduro this weekend and they are using the entire Kilbrannish area so it's a no go area for us this Sunday.

Can't wait but will retire if I am not upto the pace. You can't be carrying guys around on such an important spin. Won't be putting in such a pathetic show on The Heinous Climb

Savage Sunday. Last have been amazing. Today was stunning. My Strava suffer score is 'extreme'. Thanks to all and extra thanks to Jim for dragging me around the last bit.

Jaysus Scuttleman I don't know how you think you're off the pace...56km and 1,600m of climbing...not bad ;)
