I was up in the quarry last night for a recce. brought the bike - the compacted snow on the road is fine to cycle on. Went in thorugh the gate and could cycle on the fireroad ok, bit if a struggle but not really that bad. Abandoned the bike then and walked to the top for the sake of expediency. It was fine up there, a nice covering of a few mm's, but rideable.

But that was last night. Woke up this morning to another 3-4 in of snow, so I don't hink you would ride up the fireroad now. And there's probably too much lying snow up the top as well

What to do? I am running out of ideas to avoid the turbo....

It'll have to be some sort of a hike I think. Bike wheels just won't turn in a foot of snow. Jamie and I were thinking of doing something tomorrow.

i'm getting out on the road and into the forest- forest trails are mostly pretty clear of snow with a bit of slog to get through here and there (well that was up to yesterday)
not ideal but good enough for me at the moment- great for balance though tryin to stay off the ridges and stay up on slippy parts of the road!
david c- i strongly recommend the hike- you need to get out if you've resorted to putting snow flakes falling on the main page!!!! (although admittedly its a nice touch!)

Won't get out tomorrow but might be able to get through the weekend for a hike I'd say 795 in the snow is impressive

Short spin on Sunday, which was just about manageable in 4 inches.
Last night was impossible around Graiguebeg - snow up around the cogs and very difficult to keep moving - it's too soft and not compacted enough yet.

i heard from the horses mouth that the co-op only had a single size 7 wellington boot, thus scuppering the hike
