Aisling a winner at Biking Blitz!

Post by DavidC »

Well that was blustery and a bit damp, but it didn't spoil the fun for Brian, Aisling, Damien, Rudolf and me in Ballinastoe today. And best of all, Aisling won her race. A great achievement when you consider it was her first ever MTB race! No official results out yet but we'll get them later I'm sure

Here's Aisling with her shiny gold medal and an armful of swag... Well done!

Well done Ashling for winning today. The wind was unreal today even on some of the downhill fire road you had to pedal to go forward. Some great racing by all well done. had a slow start but got going after a while. those decents in ballinastoe are super fun. Had a battle with damian and couldnt catch him for the whole race. finnaly on the last decent I was able to close the gap and pass him a few meters from the finnish line. this is going to be interesting for the season. great organisation from Nail and his crew. with plenty of marshalls and we started 12 sharp. it was good to wake up the legs. its still winter but summer is coming bring on the racing.

yea, well done me!.....i'm dead chuffed, although as they say a pat on the back is only 6 inches away from a kick up the ass!!!, so i'd better not get carried away with myself! great day out though, despite the weather, and great to get an idea of mtb racing and all that goes with it....not as intimidating as my head had made it out to be , but tough going all the same. great atmosphere and everyone friendly and encouraging. well done to niall davis and all the gang for a well organised day and super prizes, i came home with bike cleaning gear that my bike has DEFINETLY never seen before, and a really nice 'Columbia' fleece jacket that fits and is warm! bonus! , not to mention my first ever race medal taking pride of place on the fireplace! (albeit with a 2010 inscription!) thanks to david, brian and rudolf for pre race tips and chat and of course good company for the day, and well done to brian too on his debut mtb race day!.

ladies, would defo recommend these blitz races - anyone interested?

WOW! what a start to the mtb season!

Great stuff Aisling picking up the gold! And Brian making his race debut.

And well done to the lads - looks like Rudolf will have some company at the head of affairs this year!!
