Right, the forecast for the weekend is not too bad, so I'm planning to start a bit of open water swimming.
I've been training hard in the pool so thinking of swimming from Pollshone to Courtown. It;s only about 2k.
Gonna cycle back then just to get warmed up. Thats about 40k.
I'll be in me gear on the beach at 7 am on Sunday.
A bit of company would be nice.
Open Water Swimming
Re: Open Water Swimming
That's savage. Why don't you hook up with the WAR boys and run up to the mast as well. 0 to 795 in one morning of madness!
Re: Open Water Swimming
Deadly, count me in too
I've been trying to improve my 'feel' for the water so I think I'll ditch the wetsuit for this one
We could take a trot along the searoad to return to the bikes in poulshone, at 2k it should be good prep for the longer transition runs like triathy later in the year
I like David C's suggestion about hitting the mast off the bikes, will you be joining us Mr Conway?
See you on the beach Sunday lads, just don't be late I don't fancy standing around in my skimpy speedos

Re: Open Water Swimming
Great am i the only one that didn't think this was that extreme! I should have known better"David Furlong looking for a tough session"

Re: Open Water Swimming
excellent john. an experienced open water swimmer was telling me that if you smear peanut butter all over your body it's a very effective barrier against the cold.
I might try that, cos I'm thinking of swimming the English Channel later in the summer and I don't like vaseline.
if anyone has any tips on how to stop the sand from sticking to me though, please let me know.
See you sunday (should be easy to spot me).

Hook line and sinker spring to mind

Re: Open Water Swimming
Furlong cycling around Courtown at 8am in nothing but speedos and him covered in peanut butter - the locals are in for a real treat! Why don't ye just stick a set of nipple clamps on while you're at it for a bit more torture??!!!
