Re: Clogherhead sprint triathlon
Just a quick report on the last tri of the season. FIntan and i were the only representatives from Racing795 at this one - it was strange not having Don and PJ around. 359 triathletes competeed and it went like clockwork in my opinion. Results summary as follows:
POSITION NAME TIME CATEGORY CATEGORY POS. GENDER POS. SWIM T1 CYCLE T2 RUN
2 Kevin Thornton 00:58:55 Ages 25 - 29 1 1 00:10:49 00:00:50 00:29:35 00:00:37 00:17:01
107 Fintan Redmond 01:11:20 Ages 35 - 39 19 95 00:17:43 00:01:06 00:34:03 00:00:35 00:17:50
133 Frank Burke 01:12:46 Ages 40 - 44 28 120 00:18:31 00:00:52 00:32:31 00:01:05 00:19:45
Performance of the day goes to Fintan, as Shaughs rightly said, he has made some impact in his first year on the tri scene with Racing795, with strong running and much improved biking. He's the one to watch next year! His placings were as follows: swim 107th, bike 139th, run 49th with a very fast T2.
I did this tri last year but can't compare overall times, as the swim was cancelled due to high seas. It was flat came this year and my swim was ok at 264th, was 55th on the bike and 129th on the run. Coped my front tyre was flat when i returned to the bike after the tri, so happy that it didnt happen early in the bike route. Improved the bike by 1.5mins and run by close to 2mins on last year, so have to be happy with that. Enjoyed the year racing particularly having a group of us at each tri. I hope to see more club members rejoin the tri scene next year.

Well done lads, ye have to be finished now....
Re: Clogherhead sprint triathlon
Well done lads, great finish to the season and serious splits too. I'd love to know who was on that Drogheda Relay Team. 54:39 overall time . I'd say even Tom would be impressed with a 14.39 5k run split, not to mention a 9.45 Swim split and 29.15 bike split. Serious stuff.
