enniscorthy half and 5 mile
Re: enniscorthy half and 5 mile
Okay, you're convincing me more and more about this low HR training. That's an amazing time, well done Brian. I see Jackie Carty got 1.21- unreal.

Race Report:
Having just squeezed in under 1.27 for this event last year and with training going well I was hoping to knock a couple of minutes of this if the weather gods played ball and thankfully they did. The course itself is a series of rolling hills for the first 14kms but is generally on nice, quiet country roads with plenty of shelter which were well marshalled by host club Slaney Olympic. The nice thing with a half is you can work yourself into a race and you are holding yourself back a bit for the first half. Getting yourself into a battle early on or hanging onto the tails of someone is a really bad idea - just need to run your own race but easier said than done! Like most distance races you really only start to earn your stripes 75% into a race and this was no different. Passing Maria, Conall and Grace at 17km was great and I had a "Run faster Dada" ringing in my ears, the journey home was a bit of a sufferfest after this. The recent exploits of Niall, Joy and the Wicklow Wayers definitely helped to inspire and shorten the journey. Home in 15th place and 1.24.33, happy.
Looking down the results during the week I noticed a one Mr Fergal Kelly doing 1.40 - great running Fergal - always a dark horse!

Fair play to you again Brian, sounded very hilly and you still managed that time.
