Summer club get together's
Re: Summer club get together's
Woohoo! I won something! Well done team mate Mike.
Lovely way to spend an evening. Great racing with Brian M, he was out of sight on the big climb but I managed to reel him in on the descents. I was right on his wheel at the finish when he missed a turn so we slowed up and rolled over the line together. I might have passed him, you never know, but I suspect he had enough left to hold me off if it came down to the sprint. Bring on the rematch!
Thanks PJ and Frank for marshalling and timing tonight. And thanks to Yvonne and Mrs Raging Bill and kids for the support.

Well done DC and Mike. Thanks PJ for organizing and Frank for marshalling and encouragement.
Re: Summer club get together's
Thanks Pj for a great little event tonight and Frank for marshaling and Yvonne for the bug spray. I think it's fair to say we have one of the nicest running trails right on our door step to match anything Wicklow has, didn't expect it to be so good, the MTBers have the trails in great nick. Not to worry Lorraine we'll get them next time! Fair play Barry for giving up the MTB ride to even up the teams.
So that got me thinking on the way home - anyone fancy running the MTB sportive trail before the big day? Even the short course, we'd cut out the tarmac and just run the offroad, take a day's holiday and do it midweek at our leisure?

Re: Summer club get together's
Any chance you could run it with a strimmer Brian?
Re: Summer club get together's
That was a very enjoyable evening, thanks to the lads for organizing and for everyone turning out. Great little MTB race loop there. Looking forward to next time.

Re: Summer club get together's
That was my first time doing anything like that, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was absolute torture, but the enjoyable kind. Thanks PJ and Frank for organising and marshaling. Thanks Yvonne and MrsRagingBill (Alma) and kids for the support. Sorry Frank for the expletives when I caught sight of the last climb. Well done to everyone competing. Sorry I didn't stick around for a chat, but I was totally spent after that. Went home and ate ten Weetabix and straight to bed!! Can't wait to do it again. Think I'll have to lose 2 stone for those climbs though. Was just wondering would it be ok to use that on a regular basis or would it be busy with the mtbers?
Re: Summer club get together's
Bill, the trails are for everyone, so work away. Most days you won't meet anyone but do keep an eye out for bikers on steep climbs or descents. Stopping distances can be long so you might have to jump out of the way!

Re: Summer club get together's
The second meet up is this Wednesday.
Details below
Wednesday 24th July
Time 7pm
Location: square in Bunclody
Distance aprox 30 km
Road bike race.
I will then divide members up into 2 person teams as equal as possible.
Again lowest combined positions wins
We will roll out to the start . Using the Eddie Tobin route
http://connect.garmin.com/course/2199696
Might spice it up half way around with an intermediate sprint!
Now I need to know who's going ASAP
Thanks
