Hi Jamesjbodels wrote:Congrats to all.
Interested to know your time and average speed was, my self and Nick managed 81.56km in 3:41 Avg 22.1kph....this was a really comfortable pace and there was plenty in the legs at the end.....I acknowledge we where 50km short off what you did, but maybe just getting the pacing right would make all the difference....Asop was well clued in with the tortoise and the hare ...
Well done!
139k was an average of 22.6km/hr, though that includes a few lumpy sections (Mt leinster, Inistoige twice, Graiguenamanagh..).
The second time around in Inistoige, we had 62.6km covered at 26km/hr, slowing to an average 25km/hr by Graiguenamanagh (79km done).
4km out of the feed stop in Graiguenamanagh, we were directed off the main road and up a hill.. 11km and 250M of climbing later we roll into the feed stop - cruel!!
1750 metres of climbing.. More than in the Mt Leinster Challenge I think..
How much climbing did you do in the 75km? Any stats?
Re: Dragon Sportive
The Big Dragon map,at http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2343958 , shows a climb off 1931m so you under rated yourself, obviously you guys did not notice the extra 200m..!
We only had 954m of climbing to contend with...but coming out of St Mullins we had a short 9% climb that had most of the little dragons on hoof, I think you guys got up to 11% on the way up to the nine stones....respect

I forgot the GPS so was using Strava on my phone - it has underestimated climbs before.
You did more climbing in the 75km than there is in the 100km St. Luke's sportive also - fair play!
So the Dragon had more climbing and was longer than the '140k' Mt Leinster Challenge.. Barry - start planning "The Mile High Club" spin!
I'm doing the St. Luke's sportive - should be a good number doing it as PJ has it down as the last of the group spins. I'll copy your info into a separate post in the racing section.
