I didn't moan Don. The course didn't suit my big frame either, but still managed to enjoy it, without being ecstatic about my performances. Not overly happy with my swim, with my shoulder problem giving a small bit of trouble. Transition was a nightmare. Longest in history and couldn't get my fingers to work properly. Didn't feel great going out on bike, but didn't panic and eventually got going. Very happy with my bike improvements, but still have a way to go to catch Don and PJ. Started run with a stitch but again got going. Very technical and some nasty short punchy hills. Not suiting me at all. But kept it steady and was surprised at my run time at the end. The race as Don says was changed so many times it got confusing, but the volunteers on the day all did their jobs very well. Looking forward to the longer stuff now. Unfortunately next up is the Beast. More frickin hills.

Nice report Don and impressive performances all round. I don't know what it is about Athlone but it never seems to get it right. I've done it once and I swore I'd never do it again.

Well i could say i told ye so! From the longest transition in history of tri, to empty water bottles before going on bike :o to stolen goggles, why would you do Athlone! Anyway well done on great racing - serious results especially the run by all 4 of ye. Welcome back to the Don - who is back to the fray and taken over as top dog postion again.
