Stone Cross to Lug
Stone Cross to Lug
So it turns out I'm going to give the solo version of this race a lash tomorrow.
It's a 54km race across unmarked open mountains in the heart of Wicklow with about 2,300m of ascent. Bog and heather appear to be the norm for the day.
Normally taken on as a three person relay, myself and a bunch of other's are taking the full thing on solo.
Finish time is estimated to be in the region of 8.5 hours, though really I haven't a clue how long it will take.
I've not normally bad on endurance stuff but haven't managed any activity much longer than 3 hours in training (or probably since the Lost Sheep in 2013).
Weather looks like its going to be nice to us, hopefully visibility will be good.
There are currently 9 relay teams & 18 soloists listed as entered

Good man John. That sounds completely nuts! Best of luck!
Re: Stone Cross to Lug
Great stuff John, sounds like pure torture. No doubt you'll conquer it. Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

Re: Stone Cross to Lug
Well I didn't die and I'm delighted to finish in about 8:15
Managed to come home in 3rd place which was a nice bonus
Suitably long winded race report to follow

Re: Stone Cross to Lug
I told Val last night I reckoned you had a chance of a podium finish given your previous results in the mountains Well done John, very impressive running. Looking forward to a suitably long Dempsey race report.
Re: Stone Cross to Lug
Great, well done John, sounds mad altogether
Re: Stone Cross to Lug
You were right Don, it was pure torture!
Thanks for the vote of confidence Peter, I certainly didn't expect it beforehand.
