We should consider setting up an extra loop for DF. Maybe jump on the MTB after the second run for a spin to the mast and back then a nice 10k run home. Should just about cover the 3hrs+.

I hope to have a go at the duathlon - one of guys i work with will probably compete also - that's two more anyway!!!.
As a novice, just wondering should i get a set of toe clips, as opposed to using cycling shoes and runners? What do ye pros recommend?

well frank i aint no duathlon expert but it's cycling shoes and runners all the way for me.
reason: i think that wearing runners/toeclips I would lose more time on the bike than the time it takes to change from the runners to shoes and back again. last time i used toe clips was in the rubberman and i hated them. too much foot movement and general lack of power.
but as i say i aint no expert....

David's right - runners and bike shoes are the way to go. The change from one to the other is a lot less than the time you'll loose on the bike using toe clips. You dont even need to worry about socks (if you wear them) as these will be left on for the full race.

As I have missed the oppurtunity to marshal, I'll have a go, I like the idea of cycling, running, cycling...!
