Cheers David, the new wetsuit is looking good :D A good but tough day out. Tri An Mhi put on another great race. Race was a little unusual in that I was carrying the mobile with me on the bike and the run just in case Val went into labour. I was nervous enough given how little training I'd done and Val ringing me just before the start to tell me she felt funny didn't help

Small field of 110ish. Weather was windy with lots of rain forcast. Swim was warmer than it looked but water was very very choppy, more like a sea swim than a lake swim. Course looked well short of the advertised 1,900m, I reckon closer to 1,700m, hence the 34 min swim.

Long transition then onto the bike. 2 x 46.5pm loops with one biggish hill at 16km. Took it very easy on the bike given that my longest ride this year had only been 75kms. First lap nice and dry; halfway through second lap the heavens opened and when I say it rained...........the bike was almost washed sideways into the ditch by the water running across the roads. The rain stopped and then the hailstones started  I was glad to get off the bike in 3.24 which was slow but I was happy enough.

Complete change of soaking wet clothes in T2 and out onto a hilly 21kms. It rained and rained and rained on the first lap and everything I was wearing was soaked. On lap 2 the sun came out and I got sunburned  Suffered on the last 2km but broke 2hrs for the run in a half ironman for the first time ever so happy with that.

6.08hrs overall; my slowest ever half but happy enough given the lack of training and the weather.

Still no sign of the baby yet

Well done Peter, excellent result considering all the above. Gosh this baby is definitely going to be sporty with all the training done last year. Best of luck with the new arrival.

Fair play Peter - very trying conditions on top of those long distances
