XC mtb NPS Rd5 Belfast

Post by DavidF »

I'm planning on heading to this. It's in the wonderfully named Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park on the south side of Belfast

We were at this race last year, its about a 2hr 20min drive

I'll be bringing my new eco-bus ;) so if anyone wants a lift and share the diesel then let me know.

The course is pretty much non-technical and they had a great set up last year with start/finish area and parking in the same place

Eco bus is full, that was quick....

Should be an entertaining day out, 2.5hrs of $hite talk on the way up followed by 2.5hrs of what ifs on the way home.....

Well done to Ross, DavidF, Rudolf, Jim, Brian and me :D . Great racing today. No results yet but Rudolf did well in S2 while Ross was the best of the rest of us in S3. Well done especially to Brian who made the step up from S4 to S3 today and took it in his stride.

Thanks to DF for driving, that was a long day behind the wheel.

Cheers Dav but that was done out of necestity as apposed to an improvement but enjoyed all the same.
First half hour of the day started well. went down hill after that, hit a kirb and did the rim of the van in   my self Rudolf changed this in timely fashion 20 minute delay and the spare wheel fitted we were on the way till this one went flat on the nass road   Tried pump it up(rudolf got a kick out of my method for this) no joy. One of the lads from work dropped us over his spare wheel and we were on the way again. At this stage I was too late for the S4 start time so transfered to S3.
Course was fast and slippy but great crack DF had a nervis look on his face at the end of the first piece of single track and i was still there but that was short lived  Well done to the lads they were flying

Savage racing today. great weather great course. Yes we had a few mechanicals on the way but made it in time for the race. trying to get the early season form back but needed 30 seconds per lap to get a top 10 finnish. it was just not happening today. realy enjoyed the racing thoughout the field. a lot of driving for one day but defenitly one of the best race venues this year. Good to see a big 795 crowd out today and everybody finnished great results.

Deadly buzz. That was our biggest representation at a race I think, especially S3, scattered like confetti through the field we were.

Ross had a great race, must have been all that 'energy drink' Saturday night. DC wasn't far behind. I managed to get ahead of Furlong Snr, so thats all that matters ;) Rudolf put in a good performance in S2, he was frothing at the mouth at the end. And fair dues ti Brian stepping up to S3. There's no going back now Brian!

I have to say I never felt so wrecked immediatley after a race, it was fast and furious, no let up, no resting place. But as ever 5 mins later it's all good.
Looking forward to Tuesday night already
