bike lights
Re: bike lights
Light accessories - two ways to find them on Dealextreme:
First - here's the bike light section - there's 3 pages in it and you can progress to the next page at the bottom of the page:
http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.905
Second - search by SKU:
http://www.dealextreme.com/search.dx/search.30864
There's spare batteries (the old type) extension cables, replacement lens, mounts etc.
Here's the helmet mount:

Re: bike lights
That time of year again unfortunately..
Black Dog is blacker than ever - which helps as you can't see half what you're riding over
Here's a roundup on Magicshine lights from Dealextreme..
Here's the torch that I have, with an upgraded waterproof battery pack:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ha-iii-cre ... -904430864
$79.62 (~€60)
The good thing about this is it is shipped from a UK warehouse, so there's no way customs will get it for their pound of flesh (which equates to 14 euro + a % of the overall value, normally around 20 quid all in).
Note this item is specifically marked as coming from a UK warehouse - this isn't the norm - everything normally ships from China.
There's other options:
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ssc-p7-3-m ... 8650-50947
$56 (around €42) but comes from China - possibility of getting hit with duty.
This is the one I got last year. Battery pack isn't waterproof so put it in your backpack.
There's a few different models, some the same but different packaging.

Accessories for the Magicshine lights - from China, but the value has to be over 20 euro before customs can start charging you duty.
Extension cable: $3.12
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/5-4mm-male ... 00cm-32751
Headstrap: $3.45
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/head-strap ... 25cm-32755
Helmet mount: $3.25
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/velcro-bin ... 35cm-32754
Male to female Y connector - for running 2 heads off one battery. $3.13
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/5-4mm-male ... 25cm-32753
Spare battery: $29.48 - not waterproof - might be better off just buying a second complete unit.
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/4400mah-ex ... 8650-32756
Other things are available like replacement O rings, led, glass..
Shipping is free, so there's no advantage in going together and putting in an order. Also, the torch from the UK warehouse won't take the usual 2 - 3 weeks to ship from China. Accessories will take longer - I'd imagine you'd be better off putting in two separate orders so as not to confuse the issue.
We had a comparison of lights last night on the trail - Aye-ups, Lumicycle, Magicshine and Hope.
All excellent products with very likely much better backup support for them than the Magicshine if something goes wrong. You're paying a premium for them though.
I don't think there is any point in trying to return a broken torch to China after a few months use, whereas a local, branded torch you would have comeback.
The Hope headlights that DC has are excellent - Aye-ups are possibly the lightest headlight. All seem to benefit from having two heads. Lumicycle setup has twin halogen heads. Magicshine is a whiter light, being LED. It's also a spot - the Lumicycles seem to be more flood, but that could be the twin heads creating that effect.
Anyway you've no excuse for not getting out on the mtb for the winter now!

Re: bike lights
Lights time again - best I can see around and shipped from an EU warehouse, so no customs charge:
http://dx.com/p/ha-iii-cree-ssc-p7-c-sx ... -844030864 for US$57 (about €48) incl shipping.
They're not branded 'Magicshine' but looks identical from the pics. Added bonus of a UK plug on the charger.
Plan to buy one in the next month or so, to have a second light for the bars.

Re: bike lights
Why don't we just put in street lights along the trails??!!!!
Old timers are showing their age........poor night vision and afraid of a few blind spots!!
You might as well get quads bikes!!
Right, that's my Richie Byrne rant over with!!!!
