Update:
Made it safely to Laragh, currently having a big feed!
Great day in the saddle, weather kind. BIG climbs followed by fabulous descents.
Five (ok maybe 4) beat bikers, looking forward to tomorrow, all 81km of it

Re: Wicklow Way 2011
What a great weekend of biking. Savagely difficult and glad to be done. I'm so beat I can hardly type. Report to follow later in the week.
here's the photo of the weekend somewhere along the Djouce boardwalk:

2 great days on the bike. on my 4th dinner now or the fifth cant remember. well done to all for finnishing it. the first day 50 km was steep uphill and technical down hill. the second day was a mixture of unending fireroad climbs with super fast decending. now sleep.
Re: Wicklow Way 2011
Thanks to my fellow travelers for a great weekend's biking, to PJ and Yvonne for the welcome in Clonegal, and to Lorraine for the much needed feed!
Am I glad I did it? Yes!
Would I do it again? Yes. but I might take an extra day or two. The Wicklow Way is a national treasure, absolutely breathtaking in places. Would be nice to have the extra time to slow down and really take it all in.
Things to know:
Bring insect repellent
Make sure your waterproof jacket is actually waterproof
Don't pick a B&B at the top of a hill
If you don't have a pump in your bag make sure you're not the last man in the group
Keep Rudolf fed and he'll be grand

Fair play lads, that's impressive stuff, especially with the weather we had over the weekend. Doing one day on the bike for that long is tough but to get up the following morning and do it again, Yer all savages. Might get out for a trail myself some time next month when I get back to training. Will need lots of tips...

Until I read that I thought ye all shared a tent in the wick low mountainsDon't pick a B&B at the top of a hill
Well done to all, sounds like a good but tough weekend. As Don says it'd nearly encourage you to take up MTB'ing.
Re: Wicklow Way 2011
Couldn't agree with the lads more can't believe we have stuff like this on our doorstep, a marvellous weekends biking. Cant wait to see what DF managed to catch with the camera. That's definitely my mountain bike enthusiasm topped up for a long while. Thanks to the lads for making it such crack. So what's next!?!
