Anyone know much about buying from Alibaba/aliexpress.com, China based wholesalers...
On the look out for a better frame for my Cube with better geometry and came across this crowd:

Worried the frames could be knock offs but all their other components look legit and well priced..

MTB Bike Parts - China
Re: MTB Bike Parts - China
mmm that's a difficult one
given that most frames are coming out of China/Taiwan, why not?
But then you have no warranty and no 'big name' backup - that's what you are paying the premium for
I wouldn't want to be flaking down Corrabut thinking if my cheapo Chinese frame was going to fail, would you?

Re: MTB Bike Parts - China
Components might be ok, but they're not 1/2 the price either.
Frames - too good to be true possibly. They're also too big to return.
You will get hit with customs also. They will open it up and make an assessment on the value that frame would normally have in Ireland and charge you accordingly - whether it's a fake or not it doesn't matter. Plan to be charged when working out the overall price.

@ DF: that's its, a lot of them are made out that way including Cube, German design but made in the east.. I was considering this as a price point compared with a second hand frame from Ebay where I would not be getting any warranty either.. definitely ain't going to fork out premium price on a new frame for what I want it for. I never flake down Corrabut but I know what you mean these could be factory seconds or something with hairline cracks etc.
@ DT: Yes, some of the brake sets look like good value. A few years back I used to do a lot of online shopping from all sorts of places inc. Japan.. the only country I ever got hit with customs was from the USA, not sure if they have gotten tighter on other countries but that would take the value out of it a bit..
@ Rudolf: Chinese cars & bikes:
they weren't lookalike brakes you were using that fateful evening by any chance
