Good race to get back into it
There was one gombeen in a white van trying to overtake cyclists who where two abreast as I was on my way back from the turnaround on the other side of the road, but no controlling idiots like that. Good to see two bike marshals out on the course, but there was an awful lot of drafting going on at times. Then you'd see the group scatter when the big roar of the four stroke motor bike engine could be heard coming round the corner.

It's a grand course, nothing overly difficult or exciting about it (apart from the cold and the wind!!)
I was disappointed with my second run split, but had fried my legs when I got stuck in the big gear up front after my shifter gave up the ghost 1k into the bike. Not much sympathy coming from Frank the Tank "Ah i wouldn't worry about it this early in the season, tis good training". Yeah, for a biker like him

I thought that certain transition officials were overly arsey in trying to stop people from removing their bikes and getting out of the freezing cold after the race, forcing them to stand around for over 30 minutes waiting for the back markers to come in - this was after 30-40% of participants had already taken their bikes and gotten into their cars!! It was bitterly cold.
Niall, Frank & me grabbed ours and ran, but poor Mike and Dena got caught

Anyway, good race, looking forward to a few more battles through the year, nice to have the bit of banter.
